How to give your skin that festive ‘sparkle’ just in time for Christmas

EDIT Laser skin clinic Dublin Christmas Ireland skin care

It’s only 8 weeks until Christmas... so it’s time to get your skin ‘Christmas’ ready!

With Christmas parties and nights out just around the corner, it’s time to get your skin looking its best for the busy Christmas period. Using the latest ground-breaking laser treatments available at our Dublin clinic, we can help your skin regain that added sparkle ahead of the festive season.

At EDIT Laser Skin clinic, we provide treatments for a wide range of skin concerns. Particularly during this time of year, we see many clients seeking treatment for issues such as skin pigmentation, age spots, rosacea, and overall improvement in skin texture and tone.

How does laser skin treatment work?

Our industry leading PicoSure laser is the first and only aesthetic picosecond laser for the safe and effective removal of tattoos and benign pigmented lesions, as well as acne scars, wrinkles and skin revitalisation treatments. The laser creates microscopic, photomechanical reactions in the epidermis that communicate with the dermis, leading to increased collagen and elastin in the skin.  This means the Picosure has the ability to improve fine lines, wrinkles, age lines and acne scars. Here are some of the skin conditions that we can treat:

- Rosacea Treatment
- Acne Scar Treatment
- Age Spots & Sun Damage Treatment
- Thread Vein Treatment

What pre-treatment looks like at EDIT

When considering a client’s treatment options, there are a number of factors that we consider before recommending a specific course of treatment. Specifically, we consider whether we need to be targeting the epidermis or superficial dermis. We consider the client’s skin type, sensitivity, skin concerns, medical history and lifestyle history before commencing any laser treatment. During this we will also consider our endpoint. For example, we may need to stimulate collagen and elastin and break down uneven pigmentation.

At EDIT, our main ethos is being open and honest with our clients about what the end goal will look like after treatment and how long this may take. We also provide extensive advice and recommendations for after-treatment care to ensure the client achieves long-lasting results.

How to take care of your skin before and after laser skin treatment

Our founder and director, Shauna O’Neill, recommends that “clients should refrain from using retinol or any other heavy topical serums before their laser skin treatment sessions and in terms of after their treatment, Shauna highlights that it is very important that clients wear SPF daily to achieve the best results. For clients suffering from severe rosacea, it is best practice to incorporate a medical grade skin care regime for example, Alumier.”  AlumierMD is medical-grade skincare which delivers therapeutic outcomes for people presenting an array of skin conditions and concerns.

How long does it take to see results after laser skin treatment

Each client is different, and some clients see results sooner than others. At EDIT, we recommend a course of 6-8 sessions with each session being spaced 4 weeks apart. Results also depend on the certain skin issue being treated and how severe the issue is.
