Brighter evenings, brighter skin.

Edit Skin Clinic Dublin skin rejuvenation treatments for issues such as Rosacea, Acne Scarring and Thread Vein issues

Sure, isn’t there a grand stretch in the evenings?

There’s nothing better than the brighter evenings starting to creep in after a long, cold Irish winter, and with the brighter evenings comes the opportunity to begin the process of brightening up our skin. During the particularly harsh winters in Ireland, many of us experience drier and redder skin due to the colder temperatures and our increased use of indoor heating which can further deplete the skin’s moisture.

Specifically, those who suffer with rosacea experience more frequent flare ups during the winter months, due to the colder conditions.

At Edit Laser Skin Clinic, we use the latest ground-breaking laser technology, the Picosure ICON® laser, to provide treatment for clients who suffer from skin issues, such as rosacea.

What exactly is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a common skin condition that causes blushing or flushing and visible blood vessels in your face. Rosacea mainly affects the face and is most common in women and people with lighter skin, but symptoms can present worse in men. The signs and symptoms may flare up for weeks to months and then subside for some time. Symptoms of Rosacea include persistent redness that looks like sunburn or a stubborn rash. During winter, the dryness and redness caused by Rosacea can be made worse in the cold winter months. The cool, dry air is one of the most common triggers of Rosacea flare-ups.

So, how does the treatment work?

Laser treatment using the ICON® produces a narrow beam of light energy. This beam of energy is directed towards the visible blood vessels in the skin. The energy is then absorbed by the target chromophore, which in this case is the blood causing damage to the blood vessels resulting in their shrinkage. The structural change leads to the body no longer recognising the proteins in the vessel wall, and these are then removed by the body’s immune system.

Overall, the procedure is quick and easy, with results often seen immediately after, but we recommend a course of ongoing treatments to ensure long-lasting results.

Our recommendations on how to further take care of your skin post-laser treatment:

We always give our patients recommendations for how to continue looking after their skin in order to have long-lasting results. Here’s a few of our recommendations for those who have just went through our rosacea treatment:

- Wear a high SPF every day.
- Try avoid heat or sitting directly in the sunlight
- Try covering your face in cold conditions
- Use gentle skin care for sensitive skin
